UNESCO is now inviting nominations for the 11th edition of the UNESCO\/Jikji Memory of the World Prize<\/strong>. Member States, in consultation with their National Commissions, are invited to submit nominations, as are the international non-governmental organizations maintaining official relations with UNESCO and whose work involves the preservation and conservation of documentary heritage. Deadline for submission is 30 April 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Prize was created to commemorate the inscription of the Buljo jikji simche yojeol \u2013 the oldest known book of moveable metal print in the world \u2013 on the Memory of the World International Register<\/a>. As such, it has become an important symbol of the Memory of the World Programme\u2019s efforts to support the preservation and accessibility of documentary heritage as a common heritage of humanity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Funded by the Republic of Korea, this Prize of US $40,000 is awarded every two years to individuals or institutions that have made significant contributions to the preservation and accessibility of documentary heritage. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
